First, most people (In English-speaking countries) do not realize that the English language is ideal for debating and verbally arguing! After WWII various countries in Europe looked into changing the discussion language during the sitting of parliament in English. One of the main reasons, I have never forgotten is that “It is such good language for debating and words keep on flying forwards and backward and NOT getting anywhere but spending the citizen’s money.” One can keep on debating until the funds run out from the people. At least a little wisdom prevailed and the debating languages stayed the same as were used in the past.
Many debaters have come and go, with people commenting, well he/she speaks well but does not say anything! I can still remember “Henri Kissinger* coming on to the waffle verbal excrement scene”. And Oh boy people loved him. Is he loved by the millions of people that he was for giving orders to bomb various countries into the stone age and kill those people? He sits right at the top of master War criminals and should face the court, being 99 or whatever. “So he* is still respected and classified as a good debater?
Often when one discusses a certain topic it is many times better to use a language to suit the topic. Like if you can handle different languages then you know which one is more suited. German would be good for scientific topics and Dutch would be better for going direct to the point!
If I write and talk to you In Dutch many people think that we have a verbal argument because the Dutch language is rather direct much more than German, or other languages.
Remember one example from my mother, Believe you do in the Church, not at home.
When you know something you don’t need the church. The church is make-believe. See in the Dutch language the translated word: “Believe” is Geloof, which is only associated with the Church/religion.

It also does NOT render EITHER person as being unknowledgeable. ‘Knowledge’ is attained from acquiring and assimilating available data and perceived factual evidence etc. Again, what one person perceives as fact – another may perceive as fiction. BUT this ‘knowledge’ came originally from Where? What? When? Who? Everything has a source or starting point. No matter… that ‘knowledge’ then becomes ‘belief’ – but also again depends upon perception. Which makes ‘knowledge’ in it’s root self, very subjective and selective in all its infinite forms. Those of us who have acquired ‘knowledge’ in chosen fields do not necessarily blindly adhere to it to the exclusion of all else. Nothing is binary. Oh my gosh, that is exactly what I was thinking too Bob, I watched a documentary for 3 solid hours last night about the REAL assassination of JFK. I find it abhorrent that this campaign against Donald Trump continues even after he left office. It is a stain on American Democracy.. He has had a literal fortune of tax payers money searching for something to discredit him. All the good that he did for the American people has been undone by Biden who couldn’t lie straight in bed. Biden is a puppet steered by those who have evil motives. The best investigators in the US were unable to find any evidence of illegal actions to impeach Trump while he was in office. Yet they are still trying to find some mud on him and throw enough mud to have him expelled from the next election. To Trumps credit he used his own money to run for office and donated all of his wages while in office to charities. All the opposition could do was attack him for the charities he chose to support. I think it is about time his opposition backs off. Their actions are bordering on criminal behaviour. It needs to stop now and those responsible need to be named and shamed.
