Victoria has delivered Clive Palmer’s United Australia Party its only seat in federal parliament, after UAP candidate Ralph Babet snared the final Victorian Senate seat almost a month after the election.
The Australian Electoral Commission yesterday confirmed the final results for the six Senate vacancies in Victoria, after the distribution of preferences.
Mr Babet claimed the final spot ahead of candidates for the Legalise Cannabis Australia party and Pauline Hanson’s One Nation.
The result also means Liberal candidate Greg Mirabella — husband of former federal minister Sophie Mirabella — misses out on a Senate seat.
The six elected senators for Victoria have now been confirmed as the Liberal Party’s Sarah Henderson, Linda White and Jana Stewart from Labor, the Nationals’ Bridget McKenzie, Lidia Thorpe from the Greens, and Mr Babet.
Thanks for the info vasilly – it contained several important points re Clive that I wasn’t aware of.
(Some) Aussies sure do like to bring down the tall poppies; mostly due to envy.
Clive is a diamond in the rough, not perfect by any means but his heart is in the right place and he’s prepared to back his beliefs with his wealth. And you can’t say that for too many of our multi- millionaire class.
Fantastic news! please anyone that is negative about this , should just be happy there is a small success ,at least better than nothing
the people who can complain have done nothing about it , just sitting on the internet and complaining , look at yourself in the mirror
Pablo, you need to get your information updated. The QLD Nickle refinery workers were fully paid out. Palmer is not the one that shut down the refinery. The “criminal” administrators that shut down the plant took Palmer to court for for $300 million – they lost the case and did not get a cent. Palmer has been very generous with employees – when the refinery did well he gave out 50 Mercedes vehicles to all the long term employees and the rest got fully paid holidays to Fiji
-over $10 million in handouts. The workers should show some appreciation instead of acting like lowlife scum, as BHP were going to shut the plant down and sack everyone before he bought it.
He is the only wealthy Australian spending millions fighting mandates and lockdowns. The criminal MSM did not even report that it was his legal action that forced the QLD Labor Fascist Govt to open the borders – they were about to lose the case as they were unable to provide the evidence for keeping it shut.
Can’t believe morons still voted for Lidia Thorpe or Lidofyabin as I call her.
interesting how it took a month to decide the senate – wasn’t there an earlier response to a comment that the rolls are destroyed 28 days after the election?
I had a quick look at the Qld AEC figures yesterday. About 3.5 million were enrolled in Qld but only about 3.1 million voted. In a nation of required voting, did roughly 400,000 people NOT vote in Qld after they had enrolled to vote?
$100 million to elect a real estate agent. Already one of the least trusted professions in Australia, now gets to add another one to his resume: politician.
How many other UAP members have jumped ship after being elected? Data shows that it won’t be long until Deej joins them.
Reminder that Clive still hasn’t paid his workers from Queensland Nickel, what makes you think that cares about you, the little guy?
$100 million…at least Clive puts his money where his mouth is and congrats to Ralph Babet, the only survivor.
As an early UAP member I was less than over-whelmed by the UAP advertising campaign. It’s one thing to say interest rates won’t go above 3% but some of Clive’s ad budget should have told us HOW…
Anyway, water under the bridge now. With Labor at the helm we’re stuck with an unfolding political tsunami that Labor has zero chance of navigating – indeed, they’ll drive us onto the rocks (not that the other crew would have done much better – just lessened the impact. Maybe).
So Avast me hearties, life jackets on, man the pumps & stand by to board the life boats. Rough, treacherous seas directly over yon horizon.
(sorry, too many trips on the Manly ferry)
Who on earth could have voted for Lidia the girl doesn’t even like us.
