The Federal Leader of the United Australia Party, Craig Kelly, and party Chairman Clive Palmer, have called for the abolition of state governments to save billions of dollars and improve efficiency.
“Australia is over-governed and over-legislated. We have far too many politicians and a duplication of roles,” Mr Kelly said.
“State politicians are out of touch. Increasing resources and expanding local governments would be a far better alternative for delivering meaningful and effective government to all Australians.
“Getting rid of unnecessary state governments would turn Australia into one efficient nation, comprising a federal government and expanded local councils.
“The duplication of departments and activities would be eliminated and the savings resulting from not paying the salaries and expenses of hundreds of needless politicians could be much better spent on improving services and the livelihoods of all Australians,” Mr Kelly said.
Clive Palmer has called for a referendum on abolishing state governments to be held at the same time as the next Federal Election.
“It is time for Australia to decide on whether they want a more unified and efficient system or to continue with wasteful, ineffective state governments,” Mr Palmer said.
“The United Australia Party wants a referendum on this issue so all Australians can have their say,” Mr Palmer said.

The Rights of Citizens
There are only 12 articles of the Declaration that speak of the Rights Of Cities And Citizens. In the interests of brevity I shall comment on only two of them.
Article 4: The right to clean air and water and to a greenhouse environment with minimal (eventually zero) carbon emissions, which translates into the right to take action to assure a safe and sustainable environment, regardless of the action or inaction of other levels of government.
So the future citizen can expect to travel on foot or by public transport only and will be subject to strict, control of all his daily activities in the interest of minimising his ‘carbon footprint’. The roll out of SMART utility meters between now and 2020 would appear to be part of this carbon reduction initiative.
If that prospect isn’t bad enough article 5 introduces the right to residential dignity. But before lobbying for such a future right just think for a moment about how these globalists define it.
The ‘right to residential dignity’ is ‘…the right to identity papers (visas, identity cards)’.
The framers of this declaration appear to have deliberately omitted one of the fundamental pillars of the British Common Law system. The default position has long been settled and means that ‘the state may do nothing but that which is expressly authorised by law, while the individual may do anything but that which is forbidden by law’, as per Entick v Carrington (1765).
The requirements of individuals to carry identity cards is one of the key characteristics of totalitarian states and is an imposition that is wholly unacceptable to me. What sanctions could be imposed against those, like me, who choose not to comply?
The city visa or urban ID allows “access to schools, hospitals, transportation and jobs on the condition of law-abiding behavior, for all residents, regardless of their regional or national immigration status or the manner in which they entered the country in which their city finds itself.”
So, in the future that is being planned, the only way that you will be able to gain access to services and jobs will be to carry a Permit / ID Card: ‘And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark’.
‘Nudging’ Towards City and Regional Mayors
The Daily Telegraph article Voters don’t want them, but the march of the mayors is now unstoppable concluded by stating that “England has been denied a debate, and the results of its referendums have been ignored. The march of the mayors is, now, unstoppable. England’s only option is to hope that they work.”
The author of that article was Fraser Nelson who is also editor at the Spectator. The Spectator had previously published an article Governments have failed — mayors are the future in which they held George Fergusson up as a shining example of a mayor heralding a brighter future by revealing that:
He has banished cyclist-unfriendly bendy buses, revoked Sunday parking charges, signed off on several new primary schools and implemented a 20mph zone in residential areas. Ferguson has flown around the world to promote Bristol, campaigning for the city to be given the title of European Green Capital 2015.
Conclusion
What this analysis reveals is that in the near future an unwilling British electorate are to have Mayors introduced in every City and “region” of the nation. The evidence suggests that if they are not directly elected they will be imposed by a process of selection and appointment. The colour of the candidates’ political allegiance will not matter; they will be bound by the Global Covenant of Mayors and other international agreements. We have witnessed this conjuring trick before, when referenda were held for elected Regional Assemblies. When those votes went the wrong way it became clear that unelected Regional Assemblies already existed.
The drive towards elected UK Mayors represents the rising tide of the benign sounding Global Governance model. This is a UN imposed dictatorship masquerading as part of our National Democracy. In the absence of public consent our Westminster Parliament has already surrendered the majority of its’ law-making powers to the undemocratic institutions of the European Union. Delegating its’ residual powers to Cities and Regions on condition that they embrace the Osborne promoted ‘New City State Model’ must surely result in the complete destruction of the United Kingdom as a Westphalian Nation State.
Will the long delayed £3bn refurbishment of the Houses of Parliament begin as planned in 2020? If so, will this signify the abolition of our National Parliament?

Reading through the comments, it is clear that most people have not thought this out; which is not surprising because until covid there was no forum to speak fresh thought.
But let me clarify a point. We do not need a constitution.
A constitution protects us from abuse from those in power. If we have referendums to decide each issue, nobody is in power; only “all of the people”, and we do not need protection from all of us. Therefore, we do not need a constitution or bill of rights.
Historically, these instruments were a response to totalitarianism. But here is the rub… the totalitarian entities were often quite far-sighted and so invented constitutions for us, as a paper tiger for when they later came down on us. As they are doing right now.
That is the case with the globalists, who have been planning this since 1815.
Don’t believe me? Check for yourselves. Every national draft constitution featured the word DEMOCRACY many times. Not one made it to gazettal with the word DEMOCRACY inclusive; including the Australian Constitution.
Most Americans believe Thomas Paine wrote their constitution and I have even discussed this with his descendants. The truth is, James Madison rewrote it and excised all democratic and egalitarian principles. When this was eventually discovered, the first ten amendments were the outcome. These too, were emasculated, as were the next 8.
We also do not need a parliament to debate what all of the people have already decided through a referendum. Parliament is a process through which the will of the people is diverted to the will of the powerful.
Never forget that.

But we also need regional decision-making, that crosses state boundaries. The classic example is water conservation of the Murray Darling Basin. At a stretch, this involves four states; predominantly Qld, NSW, and Vic. The people who live in this basin should be able to have their own referendum on management policy. This would cut out the power of Cubby and other lobbies that own state government ministers.
Just a rider to this; by actual definition, Democracy means the community formulating policy at a neighbourhood, regional and national level; whichever applies. Policy should be driven by that affected by it.
I added a comment earlier today. Whilst I totally agree with removing all states and territories – relevant as they were a century ago, their contributions now are all negative – except perhaps for sport. After leading the restructuring of many government departments and corporations, one key lesson I learnt is that when an organisation is broke, as the Australian system of governance is, fixing a few parts is a waste of time – a key point missed by several commenters. Most aspects of Australia’s governance need drastic change including providing: a simple VAT tax system on non-essentials to replace ALL other taxes (10% should be sufficient); a minimal central government that focuses solely on the key national issues such as defence and foreign relations, removes Australia from all directives from the UN and ensures fully-trained, competent and uncorrupted people in all government positions, central and local, and ensures any monopoly services (the national power grid) are closely monitored; a fully accountable local government system that delivers some fully-audited services that cannot be better delivered by private enterprise; removal of all subsidies, including for power. States, the original 6, contain the actual people who created the preamble to the Constitution, which by the way is the law of the land. This would make the Constitution null and void and be in breach of the reason it was created in the first place. Both the state and the Federal Government have subcontractors that are supposed to do the day to day work required of actual Government, but the Principals of such, the Pope and the Monarchy have breached the contract of the Constitution and have taken over the Government with out the people even noticing, shows how awake we all are.
The state offices are all vacant. What has replaced them is a STATE of STATE CORPORATION operating in a foreign jurisdiction and does not abide by the contract of the Constitution. If that hasn’t become obvious in the last 2 years that we are all bound for SCHWAB’s,’ you will own nothing and do what you are told and enjoy it’, you have definitely lost your way. All supposed state governments are staffed by many dual citizens and if you know the Constitution you will know that a government operating under the Constitution cannot allow dual citizens in its ranks, it’s exactly the same for the Federal government. What we all, Australians, that is, should be doing, is holding all the members of all parliaments accountable for their actions, making sure they are operating under the Constitutional contract and charging those who are not performing to their duty under the Public law, with treason and other criminal activity. There is nothing wrong with the original Constitution, it is just not being monitored by the people and its rules of contract are not being enforced. One only has to look at how Dan in Victoria, which is actually VICTORIA INC, a foreign CORPORATION, abuses his duty and acts as if he runs a theocracy, the same with Scomo. This needs to stop and all involved need to be charged accordingly, by the actual authority, which is the actual Australian people of this land. All CORPORATIONS operating on our land that are not conducting themselves under the rules of the Constitution, need to be nationalised and if needed, liquidated for cause and all the assets of such seized by the people and any harm, injury and loss caused by their actions charged against their CEO’s and boards of directors. I think that we need to have REFERENDUMS a lot more than not have them at all. So many decisions are made concerning the people of Australia with out our consult on the issue. So yes I would like to have a REFERENDUM to decide on the State.
Been suggesting this for years. 26 million people do not justify 7 State Governments. Uk 66 million, even US has governors not Premiers. Savings would be incredible and benefit every citizen. I disagree with Gary Collis. because it’s up to us the people to make sure it doesn’t become what he supposes. I want to be able to live anywhere in Australia without having to check the laws of that state, change my registration etc. So bring it on.
Whilst I understand and agree with a lot being said, I cannot agree to rid ourselves of the states, What would happen if a tyrannical government was in power, there would be no safeguard states to move to, (look at the Biden/DeSantis situation)
The local councils have all been setup and funded with UN and New World Order according to prior articles on Cairns News. The State governments are in bed with the NWO and so what do you have other than getting rid of the lot of them ban all people from government who are in any way associated with the Free Masons. Make all elected members in the future swear allegiance to our country and denial of all these criminal cartels.

A very interesting idea. I can se we will save at least 2 billion a year. However, what about the people? This is the reason why the states were created. Look at USA. The states pressure the government to do something for the people, or else they do not get to vote for the government. If there was no state, people in that area would be forgotten and nothing would get done.

Australia may have needed States and State Parliaments a century ago, but States are totally unnecessary now, in fact they add considerable duplication, not to say confusion. Federal Government, seven individual State Governments then add all the various Council Mayors – 95% of them with their snouts in the NWO’s trough. In UK we have Gov. UK – the overall head of decision making, based at Westminster, London. Under Gov. control there is a department of agriculture and rural affairs. Can’t expect MPs to be everywhere at the same time? Then we have Local Councils, many of the smaller ones were amalgmated with bigger ones. to save duplication and therefore time and money. There are no such entities as governments in Australia. Read our Constitution act .we must get back totally under our Constitution Act no ifs or buts anything else is treason.

Local ” government” is not in the 1901 CommonweaLth Constitution. Ruling through local governments is a NWO agenda to sidestep national sovereignty. The Fed is a child of the people of the States , abolishing states abolishes the Fed Govt. A new “Fed Govt” would overturn the 1901 Constitution and leave us with nothing, but a foreign controlled tyranny.

It is a long term ambition of the Labor Party, so no chance they will oppose it. There have been plans lately to re-visit the referendum to give local councils government powers and status. And here we have this so called party for the people pushing the UN agenda that super councils rule our lives while state governments are relegated to history, and then countries abolished along with their governments, handing over authority to the UN. Notice how councils have been amalgamated to become large uncaring tyrannical beasts demanding you apply for permits to breath?
