UN meat tax will close down Australia’s cattle industry and starve 80 million people, says Bob Katter
As a major sponsor of the UN talkfest will the LNP Government support the proposed beef tax?
Bob Katter MHR, says a carbon tax on meat, which has been proposed at a United Nations food summit, would shut down Australia’s cattle industry and starve 80 million people alone.
The True Animal Price Protein Coalition proposed a meat tax of a €1 ($1.61) per kilo, at the summit in Rome last week of which Australia is a major sponsor, having contributed $63.9m.[1]
“Almost every single calf that is born in Australia is produced on land that can’t be used for any other purpose,” Mr Katter said.
“I’m not talking about fattening country; I’m talking about breeding country where the cattle are bred. If you introduce that tax and wipe out the cattle industry, then there is 2.4 billion kilos of protein that will no longer be available (Australia on an average year turns off 8 million cattle for consumption, each with 300 kgs of consumable meat). The average family of five eats 150 kg of beef a year,[2] so you are going to starve 80 million people to satisfy your ideology.
“There is no alternative feedstock that can provide such an enormously high protein regime. The staple diets in Indonesia, Europe, Japan, South Korea and South America is meat. You’ve got to eat a lot of rice to get the same protein content that beef provides.”
Mr Katter said the other problem with the meat tax is that much of the Australian landscape will become a wasteland again and will not be used to produce anything.
“The cattlemen are custodians of the land,” he said.
“They love the land, that’s why they live there. It was wasteland, now it’s not – it’s producing food for the rest of the world. Take the cattlemen away and you’ll have what you have with national parks. National parks are feral pig farms, fire-starters and weed nurseries.”
Mr Katter is calling on the Federal Government to assert sovereignty, and to fight the UN proposal.
“We are an independent country and we won’t be ruled by the rest of the world. The ‘do-gooders’ have never been ‘good-doers’,” he said.
“Beef is our eighth biggest export item bringing in $10b a year for Australia.[3]
“The ‘bludgerigar’ class twitter, make a lot of noise, but at the end of the day they’ve got bird brains. The only jungle they’ve seen is concrete jungle. They’re pavement warriors.
“The closure of the beef industry would be a disaster for our economy and the Australian landscape.”

Anybody ever vote for them, or what they do?
It was in the early and mid 1970’s that Gough Whitlam and then following Governments signed us up for and/or simply agreed to Treaties, Agreements, Understandings, etc. That have controlled what we can produce, how much, our industry protective tariffs, etc..
We are simply adhering to the above as agreed to by all of the Governments since the early 1970’s. And yes, the UN has been in on this since day one. And No the Australian people were not fully informed of what the Governments have done to us and our (now their) Country.
Most of it required referendum by the people. Funny how the 1901 Constitution (where we get/have the referendums) is no longer taught in schools or known of in any real detail by most Australians.
The United Nations army is just waiting for civil unrest. No one is for the people.

As I just commented THE COMMONWEALTH OF AUSTRALIA is registered corp at the SEC in Washington DC. Likely many people will be aware of that. Where does the corp operate from? The so called “new parliament house” which sits atop of massive DUMB Deep Underground Military Base. Even if every one didn’t vote they’d still operate as a corp, it only needs votes from its shareholders. The FOI doesn’t state as to who holds the majority of shares, perhaps Berkshire Hathaway.
We need to boycott voting and see what happens, likely nothing.
We, the people, need to reinstate our government by simply going to the actual Parliament House, the one now operating as an art gallery, and put into back into place an actual government with our constitution as our guide. The Australia Act is something totally different so we simply ignore it.
Yes, a pipe dream but a good dream. Agree?
None of the current so called “political parties” the reps and senators, are acting according to our Constitution, they, in fact, are all operating in Treason, and they know it, so it’s no good asking them for help. Just watch/listen to Question Time and none of them bring it up.

Bob, it is just a tax. It will raise the price. Who gets that tax?
Cattle have hooves as do sheep, buffalo, goats and pigs. Camels, Alpacas kangaroo all do not do damage to the soil cover, and help prevent dust storms and loss of soil. Cattle are merely a European animal, unsuited to Australia’s poorer soils.
We will still export beef, just from wetter, more coherent soils, as a premium product.
Bob has a point about National Parks. They need to be properly managed and some meat production seems appropriate, as a means of defraying the costs of maintenance. We might even rediscover the Thylacine?

This amounts a breach of contract under our constitution, which requires the provision of “…peace, order and good government…” by the government of the day, who are supposed to govern for us, not over us. The Heads of Power are granted subject to that good government” proviso, so ScoMo and the entire Parliament are in breach. And how did the United Nations get to have such a hold on policy in Australia.
