Pacific Islands face the same fate as Uyghurs unless we stand up
KAP Federal Member for Kennedy Bob Katter has used a protest in Adelaide to warn people in the Torres Straits, Papua New Guinea (PNG) and Pacific Island that they are condemned to the same genocide currently being experienced by the Uyghurs in East Turkestan at the hands of the Chinese Communist Party.
“Please don’t blame Chinese people, we aren’t talking about the people, we are talking about the imperialist, expansionist, totalitarian dictatorship in Beijing that is moving into the Pacific Islands, PNG and the Torres Straits,” said Mr Katter to hundreds of protesters outside South Australia’s state parliament.
“I ask my brother/cousins in New Guinea, my brother cousins in the Pacific Islands, my brother cousins in the Torres Straits, understand what the Turkestan is suffering now – that is your fate. That is your fate.
“Please listen to what the Uyghur people are saying because this is happening as we speak. There are revelations that will rock you about the Torres Straits which will come to light this week.
“I came here to demonstrate on behalf of Drew Pavlou who was kicked out of the Queensland University for having the temerity to stand-up and speak out against tyranny.
“So I send the message ‘God bless those people who have the guts to speak up’. Let those that have courage stand up and fight and yes some of us might go down, and I want to go down fighting. I want to be remembered as an Australian who stood up and fought.
“Let us remember what happened in Europe. Hitler took country, after country, after country – and everyone was too gutless to stand up to him – until Winston Churchill, God bless him. And here today are the Winston Churchills.”
Mr Katter slammed Minister Simon Birmingham for condoning the former University of Queensland (UQ) Vice Chancellor, Peter Hoj (Now Adelaide University Vice Chancellor), for his failed response to the Chinese influence over the Confucius Institute.
“Simon Birmingham, If you think I let people get away with making decisions like letting Hoj go unpunished, I say to the Minister, take a look at my record and you tell me if I let people get away with that!” he said.
“A young man had the courage to stand up and you know what happened, the Chinese government thugs bashed him and his friends in Australia – and Høj, the Vice Chancellor of the university did not punish the perpetrators, he punished Drew!
“Remember Simon Birmingham’s name right. Work like a dog against him. Because it will be remembered in infamy that he treated Høj like he was some sort of hero.
“China is a very big and powerful country. But in World War 2, the whole of Europe was up against a tiny little nation and everyone thought Winston Churchill would bend the knee. But he said, ‘we will fight you on the beaches, on the hills, in your cities and we will never surrender.’ And just remember who won the war.
“So to my brother/cousins in the South Pacific, stand up and fight and every single Australian will be standing up and fighting with you – that I promise you!”
