Letter to the Editor

What about law and order being a major election subject: People are being subjected to robberies, violence, rapes, injuries and killed, with no punishment.  Nothing to hurt them as deterrent all the pain and suffering is being born by the victims, they laugh at the court’s puny penalties, and when released break the law again knowing they are unlikely to be caught.   Because there is no punishment, nothing that hurts them physically, all the pain and suffering is carried by the victims, their children and the local community — that is total government insanity.

The people hide locked in their homes while the criminal element roam freely, and we have to cower to their threats, even the Police Commissioner said not to oppose criminals.  What a degenerate disgrace when the people are told to live in fear because the government refuses to pass legislation giving total protection at law against home invasion or anyone injured from unlawful access — we are insulted.

The cruel killer who drowned two people in a toolbox was given 16 years only — a rapist in NSW got 20 years, and no one was killed.

Analyze the toolbox murders;

Two lives lost, so let us look at the value of their life.

The basic wage is $753.80 a week or $38,197.60 a year — over 16 years = $ 627,161.6

Divide it by two to get the value of these two-unfortunate people = $ 313,580.80

$313,580.80 is all the court has determined their individual lives to be worth, had they been killed in a no-fault accident their lives would have been worth many times more.

 What a sick joke Queensland, it’s time to protect the people, families with children: Let there be fear in the hearts of criminals — we need the cane as a serious punishment deterrent. Those who object answer ‘If you seriously cut your finger, will you immediately do it again?”, or was the pain a deterrent to adjust your brain into NOT doing it again?

Sincerely

G J May
