I would like to help you comprehend the difference between the words People, persons and man/woman because the amendments to the marriage had little to do with the relationship being created because the same relationship could have been created by the couples of people them selves by a simple written agreement and with the Gov have nothing to do with it.

What would you have created if two naturals person, one male and one female get married and consolidate and incorporate all of their property, real and personal into a corporate body, or in fact a corporation, a de-jure corporation. Is this not a marriage for the purposes of supporting a family with children, that is the purpose of incorporation.
This then creates a corporate body that the State has no jurisdiction over as the persons would no longer be registered constituent members of the sovereign state of the commonwealth of Australia or one of its citizens.
