Member for Kennedy, Hon Bob Katter is recalling the wisdom of former Queensland Premier, “Joh” Bjelke-Petersen when advising Queenslanders not to vote for a four year term for the Queensland State Government in this Saturday’s referendum.
“Joh had great saying that ‘if you can’t get it done in three years, you most certainly don’t deserve four’. That is absolutely true. We have had a series of absolutely disastrous governments in Queensland for the last 25 years. We have changed our premier every 2.5 years. There has been such rage against the people in office that I don’t think the people are going to vote for an extra year for those in power.
“I personally don’t know of a single permanent job that has been created by a single dollar on infrastructure in the last 25 years in Queensland.
“The money has been spent on self-indulgence, pleasure domes and whirly gigs. Indulgence spending can get you votes, but the people of Queensland are not dumb; they know indulgence spending does not give you jobs, and that’s what this State desperately needs.
“If you can’t get the job done in three years you should not be there,” Mr Katter said.
He said the Government is supported by departments with thousands of people working in them; there is no reason why governments should not be able to work faster and more efficiently than they do.
“How long does it take to make a decision? They say “Give us four years” – then they will want five years. The longer the politicians have in office, the less say the people have.”
Mr Katter said the threat against democracy is occurring in both State and Federal politics.
“The State Government wants an extra year of power, and the Federal Government is proposing legislation that rules out anyone but major parties in the Senate.
“The move to stifle democracy is going at 100 miles per hour. People have their chance this Saturday to vote NO to a four year term and YES to democracy.”
Editor I was wrong, you’ll never fall off the edge of the earth because your so far out there with the fairies that as you fall they’ll catch you.
Now Robert why haven’t you identified yourself as an ALP supporter? Maybe a staffer for some union controlled ALP member?
Or a university employee? Unfortunately our universities were nobbled by the socialists/Marxists years ago and as a leading geologist told a large Cairns meeting last year: “If you want an Australian geology graduate you have to go overseas. All we have available here are young people totally well versed in everything Aboriginal, how poor blackfella me was dislodged by the British and how we owe them a living. If you ask them about geology, they have no idea.”
Unfortunately the ‘lucky country’ has had a great reversal of its fortunes, thanks to the ISO members Hawke and Keating. Howard is a closet Jew and reports to those masters. The cretins Rudd and Gillard are not worth mentioning. Wow what a terrible conspiracy! Sorry Robert we don’t fall into your type of trap.
Editor you live in denial of reality and you’re so misinformed it’s unbelievable, be careful or you might fall off the edge of the flat earth your mind lives in!
Thanks Robert I still have a copy of the Fitzgerald Report and an almost complete newspaper file of the entire inquiry. Joh was a babe in the woods when it came to corruption. Cairnsnews has numerous articles of Hawke and Keating’s misdeeds and corruption. If it were not for the development policies of Bjelke Petersen Queensland would still be a little backwater run by a cabal of corrupt union officials, much as it is now. We know Luke Shaw. We would like to see him on a jury when Shorten, Gillard et al, are prosecuted for corruption on a much grander scale than Joh could ever imagine. Thank you for your input. Editor
Editor I don’t need to read articles I was at the Fitzgerald inquiry and the only thing that stopped Petersen going to jail after the inquiry found him guilty of corruption to the highest degree was the jury foreman who was an ex president of the young Nationals called Luke Shaw, Shaw was the only jury member out of 12 to find him not guilty, he even corrupted the jury and as I said earlier he should have got life!
Not as corrupt as Hawke, Keating and Howard. You should read older articles in Cairnsnews. You will be enlightened. Editor
EXACTLY! MPs never push hard for anything that’s not to THEIR advantage (State AND Federal)
“Joh had great saying that ‘if you can’t get it done in three years, you most certainly don’t deserve four’.
Yeah right, time was no problem for Petersen because he was that corrupt the time it took to do everything legitimately was irrelevant, Petersen was the most corrupt politician in Australia’s history by a country mile and should have died in Jail.
