New RFDS plane needs a name: Katter

A new plane for Mount Isa’s Royal Flying Doctor Base is nearly ready to fly, but it needs a name, the Member for Mount Isa Robbie Katter said today.

“Ergon staff members throughout North Queensland have had automatic salary deductions contributing to the RFDS for the past 14 years raising some $8 million.

“And now Ergon customers who contribute through their power bills are urged to come up with a memorable moniker.

“The winner will be a special guest at the September naming ceremony for the plane in Townsville.

“RFDS celebrated its 85th anniversary in Cloncurry last year, and will celebrate its 50th in Mount Isa in July, so the timing is apt.

“There are many outstanding community members who would be worthy of having their name emblazoned on this new aircraft.

“This would be a nice gesture to have their work, their name and their families recognised,” said Mr Katter.
